Kootenay Connect: Duncan Lardeau2024-07-15T18:31:17-06:00

Project Overview

The Duncan Lardeau is a broad valley bottom floodplain and delta on the north end of Kootenay Lake that supports rare and critical habitat for many species at risk and is used by nearly all local wildlife in this otherwise rugged, high elevation landscape. The valley also provides an important migratory stopover for waterfowl and shorebirds and serves as an important east-west corridor for wide-ranging mammals between the Purcell and Central Selkirk mountains.

Corridor Partners

The lead organization in this Kootenay Connect focal area is North Kootenay Consulting, Ltd. Other project partners engaged in conserving and managing biodiversity and habitat connectivity in the Duncan Lardeau include: Nature Trust of BC and Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.
